Hi, I’m Mila!
SURFACE PATTERN DESIGNER, HAND-LETTERER,
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Beach-lover, snow-enthusiast, rain-admirer
I’ve known I wanted to be an artist since I was five years old. While other kids were busy with toys, I was happiest with a stack of paper and something to draw with...and playing with My Little Pony ;)
In college, I started out majoring in Industrial Organizational Psychology and spent three years studying it. But every single day I found myself walking through the art building. I would linger in the hallways looking at the art pieces displayed on the walls, peek into classrooms where students were painting or printmaking, and just soak in all the creativity around me. I kept wondering what kind of real career I could have in art beyond the old stereotype of the “starving artist”.
One day, as I walked by, the advisor’s door was open. On impulse, I stepped in and asked what kinds of careers actually existed in art. She asked me, “Have you heard of commercial design?” I hadn’t. She explained the world of creative careers that blend art and business, and something clicked instantly. I changed my major right away and haven’t looked back since.
Today, I’m a surface pattern designer, watercolor artist, hand letterer, and graphic designer. I create art that brings joy, color, and thoughtful detail into everyday life. I currently live in the southern US, where I enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. But, I was born and raised in California, and my love for the West Coast runs deep. I thrive in bright sunny days and feel equally inspired by dark, cloudy, rainy ones.
I love all things art, wine, and food. And, when I’m not on the baseball field with my family, you can usually find me with a paintbrush in hand or sketching new motifs on my iPad.
Thank you so much for visiting my website. If you’re interested in collaborating or licensing my designs, I would love to hear from you!
